Summer Institute at Harvard

The Institute is targeted to school leaders (superintendents, assistant superintendents and directors) and provides rich opportunities for personal reflection and intellectual conversations with colleagues and experts in the forefront of their fields. You will have an opportunity to hear from four Harvard faculty on issues such as leadership development, developing high quality school systems, diversity and inclusion, and student achievement. Please note that registration is limited to 35 participants.
August 1 - 2, 2022

New Superintendents Orientation

During this two-day orientation, meet with other new superintendents from around the state and learn about NYSCOSS services and programs and discuss why leadership matters. Also included are presentations on superintendent leadership in facilities management, the benefits of leadership coaching; superintendent/school board elections; and ethics and trouble signs.
August 8 - 9, 2022

Women's Initiative: Buffalo

Join us on August 8th and 9th for an event to bring together school leaders, superintendents, and women in leadership to support women educational leaders and to inspire more women to seek leadership positions in education. The program will include discussions on developing leadership, wellness and self-care, cultivating confidence, and female perspectives on leadership pathways.

Thought Leadership Summit

The Thought Leadership Summit is designed to bring a small group of school leaders together to engage in meaningful discussion on critical topics and connect with colleagues and experts in the field. Participants will hear from experts on a variety of topics in small breakout groups.

New Superintendents Institute Fall Session

During this half-day session on September 18, prior to the opening of the Fall Leadership Summit, meet with colleagues to discuss your leadership vision and mission and working with your school board during challenging times. New superintendents are also encouraged to attend a breakfast meeting with Commissioner of Education, Betty A. Rosa, on the morning of Tuesday, September 20th to discuss critical issues for new superintendents.
