Session 2: Women's Initiative Spring Series

Join us for the second of four virtual sessions this spring for The Council's Women's Initiative. This session titled "Negotiating with Sue 2.0" will dive more deeply into specific skills women need to enhance their negotiation skills. Using participant information on issues, concerns, and questions on how to negotiate shared prior to the session via ThoughtExchange, participants will be able to role play specific negotiation situations and be coached on effective language and strategies.

Equity in Education: From Discussion To Action

Earlier this year, ThoughtExchange hosted two regional equity roundtables in New York. They heard from hundreds of educational leaders about the need to move from discussion to action.  Based on the data collected in those roundtable discussions and the research of Dr. Dennis Carpenter, former Superintendent and now Director of Education Operations at ThoughtExchange, ThoughtExchange is partnering with NYSCOSS to talk about putting equity into action in New York public schools.

Session 3: Women's Initiative Spring Series

Join us for the third of four virtual sessions this spring for The Council's Women's Initiative. This session is titled "The Ins and Outs of Capital Projects." Sooner or later, every school district needs to undertake a capital project. This presentation will give participants an overview of the process from start to finish, leaving ample time for a conversation and questions. Like much of what a superintendent does each day, capital projects are multi-faceted, requiring focused planning, informed prioritization, great communication both internally and externally, and an understanding of how to finance them.

Financial Leadership Series: Understanding Section 105

Section 105 Health Reimbursement Plans are gaining popularity across the state. Sometimes known as HRA's (Health Reimbursement Accounts), a Section 105 plan is an IRS-regulated health benefit that allows for the tax-free reimbursement of medical and insurance expenses, as described under Section 105 of the Internal Revenue Code (IRC). What exactly does that mean, and how can they be designed to give the Superintendent the maximum benefits and flexibility that the plan offers? This information webinar will go over an explanation of the plans, how they work, and the steps that need to be taken to implement them within your district.

This session is titled "From Pantsuits to Dance Parties: A Journey to Authentic Leadership" and will help registrants learn strategies to cultivate your self-knowledge, learn how to develop great teams by identifying each member's "authentic self" - understand how your core values provide a structure for being your true self - understand how being an authentic leader promotes organizational success and overall well-being. Join us for an engaging and uplifting conversation that is sure to be an opportunity for both personal and professional reflection and growth. By sharing "our story", we hope to inspire others and honor those who have encouraged us to be our authentic selves.
