2016 Distinguished Service Award Presented at Annual Banquet
The Distinguished Service Award is given in recognition of that one individual who has shown exemplary commitment to public education.
Retired Life Member Jack Bierwirth, former Superintendent from Herricks UFSD received The Council’s highest honor for his exemplary standards of educational service and leadership at the Annual Banquet on September 25, 2016.
The 2016 Distinguished Services Award was sponsored Signature Partner New York Schools Insurance Reciprocal (NYSIR).
The Selection Process
Retired Life Members are eligible to receive The Council’s Distinguished Service Award, the highest honor that The Council can bestow. This award, for which retirees are only eligible, is given in recognition of that one individual who has shown exemplary commitment to public education after retirement. The award is presented at our Annual Banquet at our Fall Leadership Summit in September of each year.
Seeking Nominations for 2017
The Council is seeking nomination letters for the 2017 Distinguished Service Award. Nomination letters can be written by members or by staff of The Council and sent by Friday, June 23, 2017 for inclusion in the selection process. The Distinguished Service Committee, composed of current Council presidents and past presidents who are active superintendents, will make final selection over the summer.
