This one-day workshop follows the Aspiring Superintendents Workshop and provides a deeper dive into critical topics such as board relations, ?nancial leadership/budgeting, communications, human resources/personnel, and district culture/history. Hear from a panel of superintendents discussing "a day in the life of a superintendent" and work through case studies with veteran superintendents. This is a great opportunity to meet new colleagues with a similar interest in pursuing the superintendency as a career and to grow a network while learning more about next steps.

The Pathways to the Superintendency workshop was designed to inspire educational leaders to prepare for and respond to the need of school districts throughout the state to hire new superintendents.  Participants can either participate in this particular workshop as a standalone professional development opportunity or as part of a series provided by NYSCOSS and includes:

  1.  Aspiring Superintendents Workshop

  2.  Pathways to the Superintendency Workshop

  3.  Future Superintendents Academy (application required)

Learning from a team of experienced sitting and retired superintendents, the participants will focus upon the important role(s) of the superintendent as communicator in a variety of significant areas and venues.  The day will consist of reflective large group interactions, small group interactions and individualized interactions.
