Instructional Leadership Superintendents are the chief executive officers of school districts and lead the entire educational system. Superintendents are responsible for preparing the course of study for all students, subject to approval by the board of education. Providing sound, effective instructional leadership is among the most important and most challenging endeavors of any superintendent.
